Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) Deeming Program – Oklahoma City
The Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) Deeming Program at MedNoc Training College in Oklahoma City is a 16-clock-hour training course designed for individuals who are already Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) and wish to expand their credentials to include Home Health Aide (HHA) certification. This short but intensive program provides the knowledge, skills, and compassion necessary to assist patients with their daily living activities in home and community-based care settings.
The CHHA Deeming curriculum meets the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry’s 16-hour HHA Deeming requirement. Students must hold a current CNA certification to enroll. Training includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience to prepare students for real-world caregiving responsibilities.

If the student completes the LTC to HHA Deeming pathway, they will take a single exam covering both LTC and HHA content. After passing the Oklahoma State Certification Exam, graduates are officially recognized on the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry as Certified Home Health Aides (CHHA).
If the student is already a CNA and completes the HHA Deeming course, MedNoc Training College will issue a Long-Term Care Aide Deemed to Home Health Aide Application. Students must submit this application to the state along with a $15 nonrefundable application fee.

Home Health Aide (CHHA) Deeming Weekday Program – 16 Clock Hours
The Home Health Aide (CHHA) Deeming Weekday Program at MedNoc Training College is a 2-day, 16-clock-hour course approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Health- Nurse Aide Registry. This program is designed for individuals who are already Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) and want to add Home Health Aide (HHA) certification to expand their career opportunities.
Classes are held on two weekdays, typically Monday and Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This short, intensive schedule allows students to complete their HHA training efficiently while balancing other commitments.
Daily Activities – CHHA Weekday Program
Day 1 (Monday): Classroom instruction on the role of the Home Health Aide, home care safety, and responsibilities (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Day 2 (Tuesday): Skills training, demonstrations, and exam preparation (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Home Health Aide (CHHA) Deeming Online Hybrid Flex Program – 16 Clock Hours
The Home Health Aide (CHHA) Deeming Online Hybrid Flex Program at MedNoc Training College is a 5-day, 16-clock-hour course approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Health- Nurse Aide Registry. This program is designed for students who are already Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) and want to add Home Health Aide (HHA) certification with the convenience of flexible, online learning.
Classes are completed online over five consecutive days, with coursework available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Students work at their own pace within this timeframe, accessing lectures, modules, and assessments through MedNoc’s learning platform.

Prerequisite:
- Current CNA certification or;

Admission Requirements:
- Complete the Student Application online or in person.
- Complete the Enrollment Agreement in person or electronically.
- Minimum age: 16 Years old.
- Education: Ability to read, write, and comprehend in English.
- Current Government-issued Photo ID: e.g., driver’s license, passport, military card, green card, work
authorization card, or tribal card. - Social Security Card or replacement letter from the Social Security Administration’s office.
Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) Deeming Course Learning Objectives:
The CHHA Deeming training shall include, but is not limited to, each of the following subject areas:
- Communication skills.
- Observation, reporting, and documentation of client status and the care or services furnished.
- Taking and recording temperature, pulse, and respiration.
- Basic infection control procedures.
- Basic elements of body functioning and changes in body function that must be reported to the aide’s
supervisor. - Maintenance of a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
- Recognizing an emergency and the necessary emergency procedures.
- The physical, emotional, and developmental needs of, and ways to work with, the populations served
by the home care agency, including the need for respect for the client, and the client’s privacy and
property. - Appropriate and safe techniques in personal hygiene and grooming, including but not limited to the
following: bed bath, sponge, tub or shower bath, shampoo, sink, tub, or bed, nail and skin care, oral, hygiene, toileting, and elimination. - Safe transfer techniques and ambulation.
- Normal range of motion and positioning.
- Adequate nutrition and fluid intake.
- Any other task that the home care agency may choose to have the home care aide perform.
How to become listed on the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry as a Home Health Aide
There are two ways for a Certified Long-Term Care Aide to be added to the Oklahoma State Department of Health -Nurse Aide Registry as a Home Health Aide. These include:
- Completing and submitting the ODH Long Term-Care Aide Deemed To Home Health Aide Application to the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry with a Nonrefundable Processing Fee of $15.00.
- Taking and passing the Oklahoma Home Health Aide Skills competency examination offered by an approved NATCEP, such as Examcep Testing & Assessment.
CHHA State Certification:
Once the student has completed the CHHA Deeming course, the school will issue the student their ODH Long-Term Care Aide Deemed To Home Health Aide Application. There is no additional State Competency Examination for CHHA Deeming if you are already a Certified Long Term Care Aide. Therefore, to become a Certified Home Health Aide, the student must mail their ODH Long-Term Care Aide Deemed To Home Health Aide Application to the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry with a Nonrefundable Processing Fee of $15.00.

HHA State Competency Examination Information:
The other way of becoming a Certified Home Health Aide in Oklahoma, if you are already a Certified Long-Term Care Aide, is by taking and passing the Home Health Aide State Certification Skills Competency Exam. This option is for those students who do not want to fill out the Long-Term Care Aide Deemed to Home Health Aide Application and submit it to OSDH-NAR. Students have THREE (3) attempts to take and pass both the Knowledge and the Skills components of the HHA Deeming state exam. If the candidate fails to pass both components (Knowledge & Skills), they shall be required only to retake the exam component they failed. However, if the candidate fails after their third attempt and ends up retraining, they will be required to start testing attempts afresh by taking both the knowledge and skills exam. Failure to pass after the third attempt requires students to retake the Course and submit new payments for training costs and state exams. For each exam attempt, the Student must make a payment. Home Health Aide Certification Renewal Process:
The HHA certification must be renewed every two years from the original date of issue. To renew the HHA certification, you must submit:
- Fill out and submit the Renewal Application ODH Form 717 to the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry.
- Submit the $10.00 renewal fee.
- Employment Verification – Must submit proof of 8 hours of paid work in nursing or nursing-related services during the 24-month certification time frame. Acceptable proof may include a pay stub, W-2, or a signed letter from the Administrator attesting that you have worked for pay providing nursing aide-related services for at least 8 hours within the last 24 months.
